The commissioning of the newly renovated Principal, vice principal, and Corpers quarters at Ezeike High School Awka, Anambra State, held on August 2, 2024, was an inspiring event that displays the dedication and commitment of a selfless individual giving back to the community to ensure development. The previous state of the renovated building was an eyesore crying for help. The entire building was dilapidated and not habitable.
The Chairman/Founder of IG Aguowo Health and Academic Foundation Ichie (Ozo) Ignatius Onyeka Aguowo an alumnus of the school saw the need to renovate the building for the Principal, Vice Principal, and Corp members. He recalled when the structure was set up years back, according to him, it was only used for a few years before it became worn out. The idea of having a livable building in the school is to keep the Principal and Vice Principal of Ezeike High School close to the school environment and ensure the Corpers sent to serve in the school live in a habitable and cozy structure. To ensure his vision was achieved, Ichie (Ozo) Ignatius arranged a meeting with the Commissioner of Education for Anambra State, Prof. Ngozi Chuma Udeh, where he proposed to take up the project. His proposal was approved in goodwill because the Commissioner recognized his willingness to contribute to progress, particularly in the academic area
The project commenced earlier this year and was completed within a short period. This shows Ichie (Ozo) Ignatius’s commitment to a better environment for education. The commissioning of the building had in attendance the Hon. Commissioner of Education Anambra State, Prof. Ngozi Chuma Udeh, the Chairman Post primary School Services Commission, Prof. Nkechi Ikeduhu, Uche Okeke, Member in Charge of Awka Education Zone, and other accomplices from the government house.
In appreciation of Ichie (Ozo) Ignatius’s work, the Commissioner praised him as a man with a heart of gold because of his willingness to contribute, and support the government in bringing about change in the Community and society at large. She also commended him as the Founder of IG Aguowo Health and Academic Foundation, a foundation she describes as an impactful bridge to the education gap in society. Guest including the PG of Nibo and the Prime Minister of Nibo also commended him for selflessly rendering services to the world.
Appreciations were given by the school Principal, students, and Corpers. They all prayed for abundance and more grace for him. This effort of one man contributing to the development of his society should motivate action from private, corporate, and government institutions and individuals. Giving selflessly will always leave the giver in a happy and fulfilled state.
